Emerson extends AI to the industrial edge with PACEdge 3.0

Emerson launched PACEdge 3.0, an industrial IIoT software platform that lets operators deploy and remotely manage AI analytics and machine-vision applications across multiple edge devices on oil, gas, and industrial sites.

Emerson announced on August 11, 2026 the launch of PACEdge 3.0, a new version of its industrial IoT (IIoT) software platform designed to aggregate data from disparate industrial technologies and make it available to applications running at the edge of oil, gas, and broader industrial operations.

The platform runs on containerized applications that process data close to where it is generated rather than routing everything to a centralized system. It supports AI-based analytics, machine vision, and visualization directly on site. New in this release: a group manager that lets operators control multiple edge devices at once through a single graphical interface — pushing dashboards, security patches, and OS updates to an entire fleet of devices in one action.

Emerson also deepened integration with its PACEdge application marketplace, designed as a central repository for finding and deploying third-party containerized edge applications. Sean Saul, vice president of product for Emerson's process systems and solutions business, framed the stakes: deploying software efficiently is, in his words, "a critical enabler of competitive advantage," with the platform giving teams the tools to deploy or build their own analytics, AI, and machine-learning applications.
