Palantir: defense funding bankrolls AI's commercial pivot (+93% in Q2 2026)

Palantir Technologies reported $1.94B in Q2 2026 revenue (+93% year-over-year), with US commercial revenue up 149% — evidence that a platform built for defense and intelligence is now scaling into the civilian enterprise market. Management raised full-year guidance to $8.15B.

On 4 August 2026, Palantir Technologies reported Q2 2026 revenue of $1.94B, up 93% year-over-year, with GAAP net income of $1.07B and adjusted EPS of $0.41 versus a $0.34 consensus estimate. The company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $8.15B.

The segment breakdown matters more than the headline number: US commercial revenue grew 149% year-over-year, outpacing the government and defense business that remains the company's historical contractual base. CEO Alex Karp framed the dynamic bluntly: "Demand for AI sovereignty has now been unleashed."

For the aerospace and defense companies Cardan-AI works with, this result illustrates a familiar technology-diffusion mechanism: capabilities developed and validated under public contracts — heterogeneous data integration, operational decision support — are redeployed into commercial use cases, with a very low marginal cost of software replication once the platform exists.

Palantir's "AI sovereignty" framing also echoes Europe's own strategic-autonomy debate, just as the EU adjusts its own regulatory calendar through the Digital Omnibus on AI, in force since late July 2026 — an industrial logic and a regulatory one converging on the same question: who controls the critical AI technology stack.
